Strictly Come Dancing? We tried swing dancing for real

Has Strictly Come Dancing inspired you to take up dancing? Put on your dancing shoes and try the hottest new craze in town

Every Sunday, in a dimly lit chamber beneath Shoreditch, 40 hip young things grasp a partner and jump up and down in the name of dance. Purple graffiti stains the walls, a fan wheezes in the corner. The raucous sound of Chick Webb’s Lindy Hopper’s Delights fills the room.

This is not just an east London scene for millennials, too cool for clubs and pubs. Swing fever has gripped the nation: students, civil servants and retired salesmen are hopping, skipping and twirling each other round in ballrooms and living rooms from Bristol to Durham.

With the upcoming Swing-a-thon coming up on Strictly Come Dancing, Scott Cupit and several of our Swing Patrol dancers featured in an article in The Sunday Telegraph.
