First Things First

We would love to bring all our teachers together for an open and inspiring conversation about where you are in your teaching journey, what matters to you within the dance, and which pathway you would like to use to grow your skills, knowledge, and experience.
This is not a one-size-fits-all programme. It is an opportunity to speak openly and honestly about what you do, share what you care about, and explore the support that could help you reach your individual/collective goals. We hope there will be plenty of shared learning, common ground and inspiration across the team.
We appreciate that finding a time when everyone is available can be challenging, but having every voice in the room is important. The initial conversation with Trisha will be with the current teaching team, we’ll invite potential teachers to join us for the larger course.

Why are we Offering This?

The international swing dance scene is continually evolving, as are the conversations shaping how the dance and its culture are understood, taught and represented. We recognise that many teachers may feel challenged to make meaningful connections between the dance, its history, and the culture from which it emerged. This programme will create space to explore those connections, guided by the knowledge and perspectives of people from, or closely connected to, that culture.

Our teaching team brings a valuable range of experiences and approaches. This training builds on those strengths by offering practical tools, deeper cultural understanding, and greater confidence in representing the dance authentically and respectfully.

Is It for Me?

This is for teachers at every stage of their journey who are open to reflection, shared learning and deepening their connection to the dance and its culture. Trisha will bring her knowledge, lived experience and teaching philosophy to guide the process, while creating space for everyone to contribute. More experienced teachers will have opportunities to share their insights, newer teachers can explore what support they need, and everyone can learn through honest conversation and exchange.

You do not need to have all the answers, only a willingness to participate authentically, remain curious and consider how you would like your teaching to develop.

Programme Structure and Delivery

The programme will begin with a facilitated online discussion to explore where we are as a teaching team and identify our shared and individual development needs. What emerges will inform a flexible, tailored programme combining:

• Recorded online discussions and workshops.
• Shared reflection and learning across the team.
• Face-to-face practical sessions where possible.

The programme will evolve in response to the team’s experiences, priorities and goals. We will invite other teachers and potential teachers to be a part of the training.

Investment

The initial exploratory meeting will be offered at no cost. This conversation will help shape a programme that reflects the teaching team’s interests, ambitions and development goals. Once the programme has been agreed, there will be a contribution towards subsequent sessions. We are committed to keeping this as accessible as possible, with costs shared transparently and used solely to cover Trisha’s professional time, venue hire for practical sessions and VAT. We see this as a valuable investment in our teachers, our teaching culture and the future of Swing Patrol.
