Diversity and Belonging Committee

We’re setting up a group that can help us all be better and represent and work on the issues we need to address and do better.

Please share/recommend to any one that you think could play a positive role on such a committee. We are considering forming this committee inspired by suggestions made by Aboriginal Activist and Lindy Hopper, Inala Cooper, and in line with what we’re creating in Australia and this committee would work with and correspond with the same committee at Swing Patrol Australia.

You would also play a key role in developing the strategy and planning the best way forward for our community and these would be paid roles.  Note that this group is in no way a tribunal and while the list of issues we want to address is long, we acknowledge that some of the issues won’t involve overnight change and are complicated. The Committee will set the appropriate deadlines and priorities.

Please pop us a note if you would like to discuss your involvement to [email protected]

We acknowledge that the core dances we teach, perform and share come from African American and Black culture, as does the jazz music we love. We acknowledge that we do so without lived experience of this culture and are deeply grateful to be able to experience this amazing art form. We endeavour to continue educating […]
