Join Lizzy and Alex for a lesson or two in Swing Dancing. What is Swing Dancing? It’s a collection of dances from the 1920s-1940s including Lindy hop and Charleston. Read more about it here.
Level 1 – Absolute beginners class | 7.15pm – 8.15pm
These classes are for new dancers and there is no experience required. We go over the basics every week and then throw in some new moves to get you dancing in no time. This class is drop-in, so you don’t need to book in advance and you don’t need to bring a partner.
Level 2 – Intermediate class | 8.30pm – 9.30pm
A class for students ready to take on the social dancing challenge. To attend these classes you need to know the basic swing rhythms taught in Level 1, such as Charleston (side-by-side and tandem), 6-beat Lindy Hop and 8-beat Lindy Hop (swing outs!). We often build on the content of the first class, so if you’re feeling comfortable you’re welcome to stay for the second class in these cases. Generally we focus on Lindy Hop and Charleston, but we occasionally like to geek out on technique, zoom in on styling or give you a taste of solo dancing.
Social Dancing | 9.30pm – till late
We put on a couple of songs for people to practice to, then when our feet tire, we journey downstairs for a drink.
