Join Christopher and Isabella for a lesson or two in Balboa. What is Balboa? It’s one of the more popular dances from the Swing era. Read more about it here.
We recommend that you wear shoes with a leather or suede sole to class. Try to avoid shoes with a rubber sole that will grip the floor as it will make it difficult for you to achieve the desired movement of the dance.
Level 1 – Balboa for beginners class | 7pm – 8pm
This class assumes no knowledge and aims to teach you what pure Bal and Bal swing is, single and double bal, what a lolly is and what a come around is. Yes, Balboa has its own fun language! This class is drop-in also, so you don’t need to book in advance and you don’t need to bring a partner.
Level 1.5 – Improver Balboa class | 8pm – 9pm
Interested in taking it one step further? If you were comfortable in the first level 1 class, then we encourage you to stick around. This class will generally build from the footwork learnt in the level 1 class from the same evening. We will also start you on your journey towards the social dance floor, the etiquette and floor-craft that is involved. Together, we’ll guide you step-by-hold-step to your first social dance.
Please note: Due to construction, the Tattershall Castle’s mooring has been moved to opposite Horse Guards Avenue. The boat is also currently obscured by a large hoarding for the super-sewer works. You can find us behind this!
