NEWS RELEASE: Thursday 16th July 2015

Swing Patrol to run summer Swing Sessions at D&D Group’s Old Bengal Bar in Shoreditch

  • Swing Patrol, the UK’s largest swing dance community, is teaming up with Old Bengal Bar of the D&D Group in a new series of swing dance nights at their Shoreditch bar.
  • Swing Patrol’s professional teachers, including Scott Cupit, Dance Today magazine’s Teacher of the Year 2015, will host the Swing Sessions Fridays and Saturdays in August and September 2015, featuring dance lessons, performances, competitions, and vintage swing dance music.

Swing Patrol is a community of thousands of dancers and holds a year-round programme of swing events, dance workshops and 33 weekly regular classes all over London from Camden to Camberwell. Swing Patrol’s Director Scott Cupit was assistant Charleston choreographer to Jenny Thomas for the 2014 season of Strictly Come Dancing.

Scott Cupit said, “The partnership with D&D is the latest in a string of projects we have worked on with other companies. The Swing Sessions will provide swing dance lessons for the public and will also showcase a bit of swing flair, inspiring more people to experience the style, energy and fun of swing dancing.”

Nicolas Garcia commented, “This summer we’re going with everything that swings: vintage-inspired cocktails, an all-American BBQ, and swing dancing provided by Swing Patrol. Swing dancing and swing music has it’s roots in 1940s American culture and we’d really like our customers to get a fun and authentic experience of the dance and the era.”

Swing Patrol will run taster swing dance lessons and play swing music, as well as provide entertainment with performances and competitions. Swing Sessions will run in August and September 2015, 6pm-8.30pm, at the Old Bengal Bar, Shoreditch on the following dates: Friday 7th, Saturday 8th, Friday 14th, Saturday 15th, Friday 21st, Friday 28th and Saturday 29th August.

Further September dates are to be announced and will be published on Swing Patrol’s Summertime Dancing listings.
